Lake County Safety and Emergency Services
The Lake County Safety Council is proud to present the March -- Lake County Safety and Emergency Services Update -- on Friday, March 18. The keynote speaker will be Larry Greene, Director, Lake County Emergency Management Agency. Greene has been the director of the EMA since 2003, and his duties include preparing for and coordinating management of disasters and large-scale emergencies in Lake County and the development and maintenance of the county's emergency operations plan, including an event at the Perry Nuclear Power Plant. He serves as the secretary of the Lake County Emergency Planning Committee and is administrative coordinator of the county's regional bomb squad. Greene has oversight of the federal Homeland Security grant funding, supports the training and equipping of public safety first responders in Lake County and develops exercise scenarios designed to ensure integrity of local emergency plans.. At the meeting on Friday, March 18 he will discuss -- Hazard Risk Assessment. This will include elements of: ---Its role in emergency planning and mitigation ---How the process is achieved ---How it helps keep county residents safe. Before coming to the EMA in 2003, Green was a police officer for 30 years. He has a degree in Criminal Justice from Lakeland Community College and is a graduate of Ohio's Police Executive Leadership College in Columbus. The meeting will be held at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites LaMalfa, with registration beginning at 11:15 a.m. The cost of the event is $20 for members and $25 for non-members.
