Safe 6: Safely Working Environment
The Lake County Safety Council is proud to present the September program -- Safe 6: Key to a Safely Working Environment -- on Friday, September 18. The keynote speaker will be P.D. (David) Shafer, CET, CHMM, CSHM, Trailmarker Ltd., The Safely Working Project. Shafer is a uniquely qualified and highly motivated environmental, health and safety professional who applies his expertise to employee training and education. The most common and most expensive injuries are associated with typical workplace conditions and activities. A Safely Working Environment is a workplace culture that encourages employees to be 100 percent safe, 100 percent of the time. Shafer has 35 years as a consultant, government contractor, college instructor and employer having produced a balanced perspective and effectiveness grounded in reality and practical thinking. Safe 6 is the centerpiece and most important concept developed by The Safely Working Project. Currently Shafer is utilizing his accumulated knowledge and experience to develop, build and promote The Safely Working Project, a comprehensive training and safety program. He has a Master of Science degree in Environmental Science from Drexel University and a BA in Biology from the University of Colorado. The objective of this presentation is to introduce Safe 6 and discuss how it can be used to promote a Safely Working Environment. The meeting will be held at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites LaMalfa, with registration beginning at 11:15 a.m. The cost of the event is $20 for members and $25 for non-members.
