Slips, Trips & Falls -- Staying on Your Feet
The Lake County Safety Council is proud to present the August program -- Slips, Trips & Falls-Staying on Your Feet -- on Friday, August 21. The keynote speaker will be Scott Turner, BWC, Division of Safety & Hygiene. Also attending the meeting will be John Wilton, Regional Business Consultant, from the Garfield Heights BWC office. He will be available to answer questions about the new BWC program of -- Prospective Billing. Prospective billing is in place for private state funded employers and individual company's first payments are due at the end of August. Turner will address and discuss issues such as: ---The financial consequences of Slips, Trips & Falls ---The major causes of Slips, Trips & Falls ---And, how to prevent Slips, Trips & Falls Turner has been assisting employers in Ohio since April of 1993 when he began working for the division of safety and hygiene. His focus has been working with Ohio's employers to eliminate hazards, improve internal safety management practices and prevent occupational injuries. Turner also has served as an instructor for the BWC and currently conducts programs concerning; OSHA injury/illness record keeping, accident analysis, OSHA 10/30-hour construction courses, OSHA 10/30-hour general industry courses, behavior-based safety, basic machine guarding and job safety analysis. Turner is a published author. The World Safety Organization has published an article he wrote on OSHA injury/illness recording/reporting in April of 2012. The meeting will be held at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites LaMalfa, with registration beginning at 11:15 a.m. The cost of the event is $20 for members and $25 for non-members.
