OSHA and the I2P2 Initiative
The Lake County Safety Council is proud to present the August program --- OSHA I2P2 Initiative (Injury & Illness Prevention Program) -- on Friday, August 15. The keynote speaker will be Patric McCon, CSP, CFPS, Zurich Services Corp., Rick Engineering. The meeting will be held at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites LaMalfa, with registration beginning at 11:15 a.m. The cost of the event is $20 for members and $25 for non-members. Reservations may be made online at the LCSC web site listed below. McCon will discuss why OSHA believes Injury and Illness Prevention Programs are proactive processes that can substantially reduce the number and severity of workplace injuries and illnesses and can alleviate the associated financial burdens on the workplace. The OSHA I2P2 Initiative shows how these systematic programs allow workers and employers to collaborate on an ongoing basis to find and fix workplace hazards before workers are hurt or become ll. McCon will discuss why OSHA is promoting Injury and Illness Prevention Programs as an effective took for reducing occupational injuries, illnesses and fatalities. Many workplaces already have adopted such approaches, for example, with part of OSHA's Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) and Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP).
