LCSC Awards Banquet Set For Friday, April 12
The Lake County Safety Council is proud to host Luke George, Senior Manager, Government Relations for the National Safety Council at the Friday, April 12 Lake County Safety Council meeting. The April 12 meeting is the LCSC's annual safety awards banquet, this year recognizing more than 100 companies and organizations for their superior safety records. The LCSC, in conjunction with the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation Division of Safety and Hygiene, will be presenting nearly 200 awards in four categories to the companies and organizations. As the keynote speaker George will address national safety priority initiatives and concerns, specifically the Distracted Driver issue. Some key point will include: ---Why hands-free cell phone use while driving is dangerous ---How implementing a comprehensive cell phone policy can protect an employer from liability risk ---And what free resources are available to assist employers in implementing a complete cell phone ban policy George, who is responsible for managing the National Safety Council's legislative and grassroots advocacy efforts also will discuss Graduated Driver Licensing. He has helped secure the creation of federal incentive grant programs for states that adopt best practice Graduated Drive Licensing systems and improve their distracted driving laws. George is responsible for developing the council's advocacy strategies and managing the council's relationships with Congressional staff, federal agency officials and members of other transportation and workplace safety organizations. The event will be held at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites LaMalfa, with registration beginning at 11:15 a.m. The cost of the event is $25 for members.
