Awards Banquet Celebrates Safety
The Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation, Division of Safety and Hygiene has announced the winners of the annual safety campaign. The Lake County Safety Council, in conjunction with the BWC, directs the safety campaign. This year nearly 120 local companies and organizations will be recognized for excellence in workplace safety. This celebration will take place on Friday, April 15 at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites LaMalfa, registration begins at 11 a.m. Make your reservations on line at the LCSC web site. The LCSC directs the safety campaign to promote greater interest in the prevention of occupational accidents by recognizing area companies and organizations with excellent or improved safety records. This year a total of more than 165 awards in four specific categories will be presented to the winners. The keynote speaker for the luncheon will be Tom Nichols, who is the Optimization Coordinator for BP/Husky-Toledo Refinery. His presentation will be "Incident Command System." The largest "Incident Command System" ever implemented in the world was utilized during the Deep Water Horizon BP Gulf of Mexico oil spill incident in 2010. Nichols was the ICS Demobilization Lead for the Deep Water Horizon incident FOB Port Fourchon, Louisiana. Also making a presentation will be Michelle Francisco, Safety Council Manager for the BWC Disision of Safety & Hygiene, who, in addition to distributing the safety awards, will discuss the continuation and expansion of the safty council rebate incentive program.
