Construction Safety - OSHA Fatal Four Events
The steering committee for the Lake County Safety Council is proud to present the March virtual/webinar program --- Back to the Basics - Construction Safety (special emphasis on OSHA Fatal Four events) - with keynote speaker(s) Matt Reichardt, Drew Williams, Nick Papadorotheou and Ryan Maraffi. The program is from 9 to 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2022. This training event is provided by the LCSC steering committee. The presentation will continue the theme established for this year "Back to the Basics" and cover issues construction employers (and employees) need to be aware of regarding general construction safety and specifically the OSHA identified "Fatal Four." Reichardt, from Valley Interior Systems will cover "Fall Hazards." Williams, from The Great Lakes Construction Co., will cover "Struck-by Hazards." Papadorotheou, from The Ritenour Group will address "Caught In or Between Hazards." And, Ryan Maraffi, from Hatzel & Buehler/Bluestone Communications, will cover "Electrocution Hazards.' While every job comes with a certain amount of risk, OSHA estimates more than 20% of workplace fatalities occur in construction jobs. In these jobs, the leading cause of fatalities can be broken down between four main categories (otherwise known as the 'Fatal Four'): falls, struck by an object, electrocutions, and caught-in/between. Out of 4,779 worker fatalities in private industry in 2018, 1,008 or 21.1% were in construction. Since these are so prominent, OSHA has taken extra precautions to ensure workers' safety when working on any type of construction site.
