Back to the Basics - Part Two - Regulatory Compliance & Best Practices

The steering committee for the Lake County Safety Council is proud to present the December virtual/webinar program (Part Two of a Two Part Series) ---  Back to the Basics - Emergency Action Plans;  Confined Spaces;  Powered Industrial Trucks;  Hazard Communications;  and 40 CFR 260-279 Resource Conservation & Recovery Act  -  with keynote speaker Brian Basbagill, CSP, senior consultant at SafeX. 

The program is from 9 to 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 9, 2021.  This training event is provided to you by the LCSC steering committee.

The presentation will continue with the theme established from Part One of emphasizing and reinforciing the importance of following basic regulatory compliance requirements and best practives, making sure the employer is covering the basics for each regulation to keep employees safe.

Basbagill is a certified safety professional with more than 22 years of construction and manufacturing safety experience. In addition to 15 years of safety consulting, he has worked in manufacturing as a health, safety and environmental (HSE) leader and performed various safety roles in construction.

He is an OSHA authorized instructor for 10-hour and 30-hour construction safety training. He has presented various topics for local trade associations, at the Ohio Safety Congress and at the American Industrial Hygiene Conference and Exposition.

Part One of the Two-Part Series on November 11 discussed:

OSHA Requirements-Performance Based vs Specification Based;   Ladders & Walking Working Surfaces;   Industrial Hygiene Monitoring-Noise,   Chemical Exposure & Ventilation;   PPE;   and Respiratory Protection Program.

The Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation's Division of Safety & Hygiene has a variety of personalized safety services to help every Ohio employer in any industry. U-3 Straight Through Process

Straight Through is the new process for our online U-3 Application for Coverage form. This process uses cutting edge technology and allows employers to have their policy issued in real-time at the end of their application. Employers that apply, and meet eligibility requirements, will have the ability to view their certificate of coverage, view policy details, and set up an e-account immediately.

This new application perfectly aligns with our mission at BWC, which is to deliver consistently excellent experiences for each BWC customer every day. The updated process will allow employers to get from point A to point B without a long wait or many different stops. The new interface is mobile friendly and will also allow for improved communication to our customers with a live chat support option and the ability to send email notifications to employers with updates.

 

Public Employer's First Installment Coming Up

Ohio's public employers first installment for the 2022 policy year is coming up. The first payment is due on Dec. 21, 2021. Employers who are interested in paying their entire estimated annual premium for the 2022 policy year by Jan. 3, 2022 will receive a 2% discount on their premiums.

Also, a reminder that True-up for the 2021 policy year begins January 1 and is due on Feb. 15, 2022.

Ohio Vax-2-School Offers Multiple Scholarships to Vaccinated Ohioans 5-25

Ohio Vax-2-School is a public outreach campaign consisting of a series of statewide drawings to increase awareness of the availability and efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines and provide incentives to younger Ohioans to get a COVID-19 vaccination. Visit OhioVax2School.com today!

Ohioans 5 to 25 years of age who have received at least their first COVID-19 vaccination (at any time since the vaccines have been available) can now enter for a chance to win one of five $100,000 scholarships and one of 150 $10,000 scholarships to the Ohio college, university, technical/trade school, or career program of their choice.

Drawings for $10,000 scholarships will be held Nov. 22 and Nov. 29 and drawings for the grand prize $100,000 scholarships will be held Dec. 2. Registration deadlines are Nov. 21, Nov. 28, and Dec. 1. All winners will be announced Nov. 29-Dec. 3.

Ohio Vax-2-School is an opt-in program. Ohioans can register for the drawings by visiting OhioVax2School.com or by calling the Ohio Department of Health Call Center at 1-833-4-ASK-ODH (1-833-427-5634) between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Individuals who entered Ohio's Vax-A-Million drawing must re-enter into Ohio's Vax-2 School drawing. Entries from the Vax-A-Million drawing do not roll over.
